Once upon a time, there was a little leprechaun named Lucky who lived in a tiny house at the edge of a rainbow. Lucky had bright red hair, a pointy green hat, and the biggest collection of stick airplanes in all the land.

His favorite airplane was made from a twisty maple branch with leaves for wings. Lucky had worked on it for months, adding special decorations and a comfy seat made from a bottle cap.

“Today is the perfect day for flying!” Lucky said one sunny morning. He put on his flying goggles, grabbed his favorite stick airplane, and zoomed out the door.

With a hop, skip, and jump, Lucky leaped onto his stick airplane. “Up, up, and away!” he shouted, and the airplane lifted off the ground as if by magic.

Lucky soared through the clouds, doing loops and spins. “Wheeee!” he yelled as the wind rushed through his red hair.

After a while, Lucky noticed something strange below him. “What’s that?” he wondered, peering down from his airplane.

Far below was a huge field filled with bubbling lakes in the most beautiful shades of pink and purple. Lucky had never seen anything like it before.

“I need to get a closer look!” Lucky said. He leaned farther and farther out the window of his stick airplane.

“Whoa!” Lucky leaned too far and tumbled right out of his airplane! Down, down, down he fell, the ground getting closer by the second.

But Lucky was prepared for emergencies. He quickly pulled the string on his tiny backpack, and WHOOSH! Out popped a clover-shaped parachute.

As Lucky floated down toward the bubbling lakes, he noticed something amazing. “Mmm! That smells like bubble gum!” The pink and purple lakes were sending up sweet-smelling smoke that swirled around him.

Then something very strange happened. As the bubble gum smoke wrapped around Lucky, he felt his arms stretching out to the sides. His fingers spread wide and began to spin like little propellers!

“What’s happening to me?” Lucky gasped. His arms had turned into airplane turbines, spinning faster and faster. Suddenly, Lucky wasn’t falling anymore – he was flying! Just like a real airplane, he zoomed across the sky, leaving a trail of glittering green shamrocks behind him.

“This is AMAZING!” Lucky shouted, zooming over the pink and purple lakes. He flew so fast that he broke the sound barrier!

KABOOM!

The loud noise created a giant sound wave that splashed the pink and purple liquid up into the air. The liquid formed a massive bubble that surrounded Lucky completely.

Inside the bubble, Lucky slowly floated down to the ground. When the bubble popped, he found himself standing in a field of four-leaf clovers.

“Well, that was quite an adventure,” Lucky said, straightening his pointy hat.

Just then, he heard a friendly “Woof!” and turned to see a small brown and white dog with floppy ears watching him curiously.

“Hello there! What’s your name?” Lucky asked the dog.

The dog wagged its tail and barked again.

“I’ll call you Scout,” Lucky decided. “Would you like to be my friend?”

Scout jumped up and down with excitement. Lucky found a piece of rainbow ribbon in his pocket and made a leash for his new friend.

As Lucky and Scout walked through the field of clovers, they didn’t notice a big rock hiding among the green leaves.

“Whoop!” cried Lucky as he tripped over the rock and tumbled head over heels. He landed with a soft plop on a cushion of clovers.

Instead of being upset, Lucky burst out laughing. “Ha ha ha! That was silly!”

Scout thought this was a new game and ran around Lucky in circles, barking happily.

“Try to get me!” Lucky called, jumping up and running through the clover field with Scout chasing after him.

They played all afternoon until the sun began to set. The sky turned the same beautiful pink and purple colors as the bubbling lakes.

“You know, Scout,” Lucky said as they sat watching the sunset, “today is Saint Patrick’s Day, when all leprechauns are out celebrating. But I think finding a new friend like you is the best celebration of all.” Scout licked Lucky’s face, which made the leprechaun giggle.

Just then, a familiar face peeked out from behind a clover. It was Oni Pepperoni!

“Hi Lucky!” Oni called. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”

“Oni!” Lucky exclaimed. “What are you doing here?”

“I came to invite you to a Saint Patrick’s Day party,” Oni explained. “Captain Milky Way, Sparkle the Unicorn, and all our friends will be there!”

“That sounds wonderful,” Lucky said. “Can Scout come too?”

“Of course!” Oni smiled. “The more friends, the merrier!”

So Lucky, Scout, and Oni headed to the party together, where they danced and played games all night long. And Lucky told everyone about his amazing flying adventure and the bubble gum lakes.

It was truly the best Saint Patrick’s Day ever.
